Autoantibody target discovery
The majority of functional epitopes are conformational requiring natively folded proteins
Identifying the targets of idiopathic antibody-based autoimmunity can be challenging
Proteins on the Ectocellect array are folded and active
Only small amounts of sera/plasma (100 microlitres) are needed for testing
Case study to identify targets of idiopathic autoimmunity.
Serum from a patient with autoimmune disease was applied to the array and binding detected with an anti-human secondary antibody. Candidate targets for autoantibodies were identified as well as the expected immunoglobulin Fc receptors.
